Yasha Young

International Gallerist and Journalist

Yasha Young has been living in New York for over ten years, where she not only runs her art agency and works as a freelance curator, but also serves as a trend scout and celebrity talent handler for clients from the music and film industries. Young is actively at work within the American underground youth culture, tracking down young artistic talents and advancing their careers. In addition, she has been supporting the dialogue between Europe and America through the art fund that she founded in 2007: Once a year, funds are invested in projects and residences for artists around the world. Young has served as editor of several books from various countries, and every two months, she writes her Fresh Art column for a German art magazine. She is also an international ambassador for Keep A Breast, a charitable foundation dedicated to fighting breast cancer.

In 1998, she founded the Strychnin Gallery in Brooklyn. Since then, she has developed a continuously expanding enterprise with art agencies in Berlin, London, and New York City. The Strychnin Gallery’s space in Berlin enjoys admiration among underground and mainstream alike. Every year, Young organizes well over a dozen exhibitions, art fairs, and VIP events around the world for the Strychnin Gallery - and has also found the time to open the next level Gallery (www.yashayoung.com). The gallery has been successful in helping emerging artists to achieve their transition into the traditional art market. Expanding her artists’ networks within other creative branches and in the business world is another important aspect of her interdisciplinary work.
